A Circus of Hope

Nested in a steep cobbled street of the historical Piazza neighbourhood of Addis Ababa there is a 'blossoming' world made of colourful hoops, gravity defeating tricks and smiley youngster. Fekat Circus -'blossoming' in Amharic- was created in 2004 by a group of young Ethiopians with a passion for circus. Since then, it became an open creative space where kids from the community gather to learn, practice and perform free of charge. Fekat Circus has also been running a clown-doctor project at the paediatric ward of the largest referral hospital in the country.
